Re: Richard Johnson

I remember his name being bandied about as a possible Bond and thought he'd have been a good choice.  The sixties was my first decade of heavy movie going and Johnson was a big part of that...

I agree, Tom. He was grand in THE HAUNTING, which was my favourite as well. Happy Landings, Mr. J.... "E"

Re: Richard Johnson

Did a late Hitchcock hour, "Power of Attorney," and made an excellent Bulldog Drummond in DEADLIER THAN THE MALE and SOME GIRLS DO; in between he played a burned out agent in the rarely seen Amicus...

Re: Richard Johnson

Excellent actor. I also thought, a few decades back, that he'd make a pretty great Bond. But when I saw his Bulldog Drummond, I was no longer so sure. He seemed smart and handsome and superior enough,...

Re: Richard Johnson

A very nice gentleman indeed. Polite, modest and fan-friendly. Just a few weeks ago I watched the first of his two Magnum, PI episodes again. Sorry to hear of his passing.

Well, almost 90 is a great run. Have to watch ZOMBIE this week. My favorite horror film of his THE WITCH (THE WITCH IN LOVE) never got it's due. I wish someone would do right by it.

Re: Richard Johnson

Not to mention that he had one of those doubly-phallic names, you know, like Richard Dix and Peter O'Toole. Okay, best not to mention!

Re: Richard Johnson

I was just thinking about him the other day, rats. One of those actors whose name in the credits of a film always made me smile. I'm glad he's left us such a nice body of work. Full marks!

Re: Richard Johnson

He was in my favorite version of TREASURE ISLAND, the Frazer Heston version with that other Heston in it too. And yes, he was perfect (maybe even better) in THE HAUNTING. RIP.

Re: Richard Johnson

I didn't even know about this. A good actor underutilized. Film fans will always treasure his main claim to fame as Dr. Markway in the all-time classic, THE HAUNTING. R.I.P.
